   FOR MY BOYS:
I met Randy and Jamie at Arvada AMF when Ruben Marquez (assistant manager at Arvada) encouraged me to get my kids in a Junior program.  I was immediately impressed because in one session they were able to change my kids footwork (they both bowled off the wrong foot)! My boys took to Jamie and that's saying something because they are shy and are hesitant to open up around new people. Randy and Jamie helped foster my boys absolute love for the game and because of them my boys are bowling at a level I didn't think was possible. Now I can see great things for them in the future and it all started with Stroke and Roll.
Both my boys have done very well in their Youth Leagues and Tournaments, like the Wendell White Mile High Tour. Nathan has won a total of 3 stops, winning Grand Champion in 2012-2013.  Zachary has won a total of 4 stops, including Points Leader in 2012-2013 and most recently winning a stop in November 2014. Nathan and Zach also qualified for the High School State Championships in Singles and in the Team Event for the 2014-2015 season. I don't think Randy and Jamie realize just how much they mean to me and what they have done for my kids.  I will be eternally grateful. Thank you!!  ----Debbie Sabatos

   FOR ME:
Since I saw the success of what Randy and Jamie did for my boys I decided to join the program for myself. I am a natural competitor and have been an athlete most of my life.  Before starting the program my average at best was in the 130's and it drove me nuts because I wanted to be better, it's just my nature. The beginning of the program was difficult because I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel and would become extremely frustrated at what I thought was my lack of progress. But Randy could see something I couldn't, so I stuck with it and just allowed the process to work without forcing it. Good things have started to happen! Now bowling a 200+ isn't an unobtainable goal for me anymore.
That's all due to Randy staying patient and persistent with me, constantly reminding me of the FUNDAMENTALS! The theory of Stroke and Roll has become second nature to me now and my confidence in my game is improving everyday because I am willing to put the work into it.  I strive to bowl at a higher level and I feel with Randy and Jamie on my side I know I can accomplish my goals. They definitely go above and beyond any coach I've ever known and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart Randy and Jamie! I hope to make you proud!!  ----Debbie Sabatos

When I first came across the Stroke & Roll system of bowling I was curious of what it was all about. What I knew about Bowling was self-taught from reading or from other bowling participants who I thought had a better knowledge of the game than I. I had never had any formal instruction.

The first night that I tried Stroke & Roll, I was surprised how little I knew about the basic game of Bowling. I told one of my friends that was with me, "What did I get myself into?" But that night I made up my mind I was going to give myself the best chance of learning this new system of Bowling and give myself a fair chance of learning and not give into my 'old' way of bowling.      I learned how to hold the ball and how to swing the ball. I learned to slow my steps way down. I learned how important 'balance' at the Foul Line is. I also learned the reason why each part of my approach was so important. Everything has been explained in great detail to me but never more than I could handle at one time.      As time has gone on I can see how Stroke & Roll is easy on my body. It's a system that I will be able to bowl the rest of my life. I feel I can compete at a high level. I have learned not to dwell on the bad shots but remember the good parts of my game. I like the way the mental part of Stroke & Roll has helped me stay calm during a string of strikes or when I get a split. It's just another spare that sometimes I surprise myself and pick it up.      I hope more and more people become part of the 'Stroke & Roll Nation'. It's exciting when in a 'group' session you see people improving their game and having fun again. That's what Stroke & Roll was meant to be; have fun & meet people that love the sport of Bowling.      ----Charles Bachicha

Hello Randy,

Thank you for the feedback, it is one of the things that is so great about Stroke and Roll.  I have met, worked with and observed several coaches over the last five or six years.  They are all a wealth of bowling knowledge; something can be learned from all of them.  I haven't worked with one yet that keeps track of what I am learning, what I am supposed to be practicing, and what is wrong or missing in my game, except you.  It plays such an important role for me because it prevents the jumble headed feeling when I am on the lanes when things aren't going well. I need simple basics to fall back on, less second guessing and grasping for answers to fix a game gone wrong! Thank you!         ----Laurie Befus

Randy, I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed taking lessons from you and how much better I feel about my bowling even when I don't do as well as I want to. I have always liked bowling but now I enjoy the fact that I feel better about my bowling and it really makes it so much more fun to have a goal and not just get up and throw the ball and hope it goes where you want it. Of course sometimes that still happens but it is a different feeling knowing I can correct it.  You are a really great instructor I hope all of your students will let you instruct them and do what you say because I know that your theories work.  You have taken so much time with me and I have really appreciated that.  Paying for my lessons is well worth it.  You have spent much more time with me than anyone would spend.  I know I am not quite at the goal that we were working for but I at least know I can get there with practice.   I am there at least part of the time now and the rest is closer than it has ever been because you have given me instruction on how to get there. I just need to apply it. Thanks so Much.    ----Velda Elliott

My 14 year old son, Jake, began bowling at the AMF Arvada bowling alley with their Junior League in April, 2012. With participation in that league, they were given professional bowling instruction both during the regular league time on Saturday mornings and an additional clinic on Wednesday afternoons. The individual instruction that Jake has received from both Randy & Jamie has been exceptional. They have amazingly simple and concrete suggestions for all the young bowlers. They include fun exercises to enable each bowler to improve their game. They encourage an atmosphere of enjoyment with personal and team spirit enthusiasm.  They celebrate successes with each bowler. Even the corrective suggestions for each improving bowler are delivered with grace and kindness. My son’s bowling game has improved immensely. He is thoroughly enjoying himself and has made many new friends. He wants to bowl 4-5 times each week.  All of this is particularly noteworthy as my son, Jake, has Muscular Dystrophy.  Even with these physical limitations, Jamie and Randy have adjusted their already marvelous strategies to assure Jake’s improvement and success. They have embraced all these junior bowlers with both professionalism and individual help.  They have, however, especially applauded Jake’s success and he has become an amazing bowler.  It is such a pleasure to watch my son succeed in a sport he is passionate about but even more so it is wonderful to watch him enjoying himself so much.  I would highly recommend both Jamie & Randy for either team or individual improvement with bowling.    ----Sheri Talley

Hi Randy.  Alex and I are still talking about what a great instructor you were.  We thank you for your patience and wisdom.  In fact, Alex just asked me a few minutes ago if we could go bowling tonight!  Please add me to the "happenings" email distribution list.  Have a great evening. ----Ruth Bruski

Randy, thanks so much for the time yesterday. Very educational and you are a great teacher. I look forward to trying to master the things we worked on and I have no doubt I will see some improvement year over year. I know Jason appreciated it also.               ----James Kurtenbach

First and foremost I want to say thanks to Jamie and Randy for encouraging me to get back into bowling.  It's been 3 months now and I bowled my first 300 in 23 years, then followed up with a 248 and a 289 for a 837 series.  I wanted to share with the Stroke and Rollers my mindset and game plan that allowed me to shoot that well last Wednesday night.  Just as I'm writing this, I'm realizing that some of what I've done is to slow things down and thus concentrate on the job at hand.                 Mirror Time:    I must say that mirror time has helped tremendously with everything from my stance to my delivery.  We can't make it to the lanes as often as we like or afford it for that matter, so going through the motions you'll be able to train your body and muscles away from the lanes as well.  This would be in addition to practice only though, a supplement not a replacement.                           Journal:    I never did this before, but I am 100% sold on it.  I can tell you that last week, I only moved 3 boards all night.  Also, I can tell you when I moved.  Thanks Randy for the great coaching; without it I wouldn't be scoring like this so soon.  I have lots to improve on and look forward to working with you.  Stroke and Rollers, stick with your game plan and reap the rewards.  If you have questions, ask Randy because we have talked in length about all my practices and league bowling.  ----George Akeman
